HC Deb 04 June 1984 vol 61 c13W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his policy with regard to recommendation of the Royal Prerogative of mercy for persons sentenced to death in the Channel Isles or Isle of Man.

Mr. Mellor

The practice of my right hon. and learned Friend in respect of a sentence of death passed in Jersey or the Isle of Man, like that of his predecessors in recent years, has been to advise Her Majesty the Queen to commute the sentence to one of life imprisonment. The sentence of death recently imposed in Jersey on Denis James Boreham has been so commuted.
