HC Deb 04 June 1984 vol 61 cc108-9W
Mr. Robert Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what proportion of the total amount paid out in redundancy payments went to men aged 60 and 64 years inclusive; and what proportion of the total number of recipients were in that age group in each of the last five years for which figures are available.

Mr. Gummer

No comprehensive breakdown is available for statutory redundancy payments by age group. From a limited sample survey it is estimated that roughly 1 recipient in 8 is a man in the 60–64 age range. No estimate is available showing the amount paid out to that group.
