§ Mrs. ChalkerA list of all major motorway and trunk road schemes under construction or in earlier stages of preparation is given in the White Paper "Policy for Roads in England:1983"— Cmnd 9059. No new trunk roads are under construction in the county at present, but among the schemes in preparation are some 12 miles of new all-purpose trunk road, including the Chelmsford bypass on which work is due to begin this year. Other roads are the responsibility of Essex county council.
