HC Deb 04 June 1984 vol 61 c6W
Mr. Greenway

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will refuse to admit to the United Kingdom any Libyan national seeking to train as a civil aircraft pilot; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waddington

Applications for admission to the United Kingdom have to be considered on an individual basis with due regard to the immigration rules, but any application from a Libyan national to enter the United Kingdom to train as a civil aircraft pilot will be closely scrutinised and will be subject to the restrictive measures on the entry of Libyan students that my right hon. and learned Friend announced in his statement to the House on 1st May [c. 195–208].
