HC Deb 04 June 1984 vol 61 c79W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many new jobs excluding transferred employment, have been created in each of the enterprise zones.

Mr. Allan Stewart

Companies which have approached the Scottish Development Agency's task force about their plans to set up within the Clydebank enterprise zone, which came into operation in August 1981, have proposals which involve the creation of 2,600 new jobs. At Invergordon and Tayside, where the enterprise zones came into operation in October 1983 and January 1984 respectively, 31 and 6 new jobs respectively have been created so far, and I expect these figures to increase considerably as the zones are developed.
