§ Mr. Chris PattenThe total number of industrial workers employed at the five main commercial docks in Northern Ireland on 1 May 1979 and 1 May 1984 was 357 and 292 respectively; the number of dockers registered as available for work on these dates was 736 and 469 respectively. The number of dockers actually in employment on these dates could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.
