HC Deb 04 June 1984 vol 61 c19W
Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many hectares of derelict land there are in Staffordshire at the latest available date; and what is the extent of derelict land in the Mid-Staffordshire parliamentary constituency.

Mr. Macfarlane

The latest survey shows that in 1982 there were 1,552 hectares of derelict land in Staffordshire, of which 1,480 were considered to justify reclamation. These figures exclude Stafford district, where the council made no return.

The survey returns were district based and not related to parliamentary constituencies. Figures for the individual districts represented in the Mid-Staffordshire constituency, excluding Stafford, are as follows (with the area justifying reclamation in brackets):

Cannock Chase 235ha (221)
Lichfield 118ha (98)
