§ Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list those local authorities which have availed themselves of powers granted to them to install road humps on designated roads; and if he is satisfied that these powers are being utilised adequately.
§ Mrs. ChalkerLocal highway authorities are free to construct road humps on their own roads without reference to the Department provided they comply with the statutory requirements. I do not have information about the extent to which they have so far made use of their powers. But in due course I shall want to consult them about their experience of operating the regulations and the use they have made of the opportunities provided by them.
