asked the Secretary of State for Energy what sum, in total, has been paid by the National Coal Board in respect for claims for damages by miners whose cars have been damaged while going to work during the miners' strike.

Member for Manchester, Wythenshawe regarding the total cost to the Central Electricity Generating Board of the miners' strike at the latest date for which figures are available, why he did not give the specific figures requested; if he will now do so; and if he will make a statement.
