§ Mr. David MitchellThe consultative document entitled "Proposals for Legislation on Ship Registration and Other Matters" was issued on 9 March to organisations representing the interests of the merchant shipping and fishing industries, the relevant trade unions, individual ship-owning companies, financial institutions and other interested parties. It was also sent to independent Commonwealth and some other countries and to the dependent territories of the United Kingdom. A copy of the document was placed in the Libraries of both Houses of Parliament on the day of issue.
