HL Deb 30 July 1984 vol 455 c642WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether Lord Elton gave an assurance in a letter dated 25th June that the prisoner whose number is B66506 would be moved from Parkhurst to Blundeston on 4th July, whether on 17th July the prisoner was in Wandsworth having been told that the medical office at Blundeston declined to accept him; and whether they will either continue with the promised arrangement, or at least offer a suitable alternative.

Lord Elton

I assume the noble Lord is referring to our expectation to transfer this prisoner to Blundeston on 9th July. The delay in leaving Parkhurst was due to allegations made by the prisoner which required investigation. He was in Wandsworth on 17th July. Difficulties over medical administration have delayed his transfer to Blundeston. All being well, and subject to staff resources, it will take place today.
