HC Deb 30 July 1984 vol 65 cc104-5W
Mr. Hickmet

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received during the last five years from (a) individuals suffering from golfer's elbow, (b) doctors concerned with golfers' elbow and (c) any other body or individual.

Mr. Newton

A number of individuals suffering from golfer's elbow have suggested that the condition should be considered for inclusion in the schedule of prescribed diseases. The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council revised representations from doctors during their investigation of epicondylitis of the humerus (which includes golfer's elbow) and rotator cuff syndrome. (Those who gave evidence to the council were listed in my reply on 11 June to my hon. Friend at column385.) The council recommended that these conditions should not be prescribed.
