§ Mr. Muddasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when there was last an amnesty for firearms, offensive weapons and explosives in the United Kingdom; and if he will consider the introduction of a further amnesty.
71W
§ Mr. HurdThe last amnesty for firearms and ammunition was in 1968. There has been no amnesty as such for offensive weapons or explosives. It has been the normal practice to relate firearms amnesties to particular circumstances, such as a change in legislation, rather than to hold them at regular intervals. We have no present plans for an amnesty, but I do not rule out the possibility at some future date.
