asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will explain what they mean by a 'preferential allocation' of British Telecommunications plc (BT) shares to BT pensioners.

Precise details of the scheme have yet to be worked out, but as stated in an announcement made in another place on 25th May 1984, pensioners will be given the opportunity to apply for shares on special application forms giving them the right to a preferential allocation of shares. Details will be published in the prospectus.
