§ Mr. Tom Coxasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonweath Affairs if he will now start to keep records of black or Asian members of staff, and the position they hold, at British embassies overseas.
§ Mr. WhitneyI refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. and noble Friend the Minister of State for the Arts to my noble Friend Lord Sandys in another place on 24 July, in which he stated that officials are having discussions with the Council of Civil Service Unions about arrangements for possible future ethnic surveys of non-industrial civil servants in other areas. A decision on this will be made as soon as possible.
