§ Sir George YoungNumbers of the different types of grant as reported by English local authorities to my Department are published regularly for calendar years in the quarterly "Local Housing Statistics", copies of which are available in the Library. From time to time, revised figures are published incorporating late returns.

A breakdown of the numbers and amounts of grants between owner-occupiers, landlords and tenants could be provided only at disproportionate cost. In England over the five years, about 85 per cent. of the grants paid were to owner-occupiers, between 1 and 2 per cent. to tenants and the rest to landlords. These grants are not available to private developers.
