Mr. Prescott

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what percentage of ships ordered by British shipowners were built in British yards in each of the years since 1963.

Mr. Butcher

British shipbuilding yards obtained the following percentages by gross tonnage of all new vessels for registration under the United Kingdom flag, by year of order.
