HC Deb 25 July 1984 vol 64 c682W
Sir Hector Monro

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will decline to approve the construction of any new power station in Scotland without the appropriate board having first obtained full planning permision for the transmission lines from the power station; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Younger

In my consideration of any application for consent (which carries with it deemed planning permission) to the construction of a new generating station account is taken in general terms of the transmission lines which would be necessary. However, the timing of any application for consent for the detailed route of overhead transmission lines for a new power station is a matter for the Scottish electricity boards themselves to decide.
