48. Mr. Chris Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will now arrange for a British ambassador to Nicaragua to take up residence in Managua.

We have no plans at present to appoint a resident ambassador. A charge d'affaires has been appointed to take up residence in Managua, but Her Majesty ambassador in San José will continue to be accredited to Nicaragua.
