§ Mr. Altonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he approved the reorganisation of Liverpool secondary schools; what estimates of admissions to Liverpool secondary schools, affected by the reorganisation plan., for the academic year 1984–85 were available to him; and what information he had regarding first preference schools of Liverpool parents.
§ Sir Keith JosephI have yet to take a final decision on these proposals, but I am now consulting the Liverpool education authority about two modifications I am minded to make. In considering the proposals I have taken into account estimates prepared by the authority of the number of pupils it expected to be admitted to the new schools in the 1984–85 academic year. So far as the school preferences of Liverpool parents are concerned, I refer the hon. Member to the answer given to him on 10 November 1983, at column 196. The authority also prepared for me the same information for the years 1981 and 1982.
