HC Deb 25 July 1984 vol 64 c708W
Mr. Maginnis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what further details he has received the execution of members of the Baha'i faith in Iran during June; and what further action Her Majesty's Government intend to take to convince the Iranian Government of the need to observe internationally accepted standards on human rights.

Mr. Luce

We have received a number of reports on the execution of Baha'is in Iran during June from representatives of the Baha'i community in the United Kingdom. We have already made the Iranian Government aware of our deep concern at reports of human rights violations in Iran, including those which effect the Baha'i community. We shall continue our efforts, together with our partners in the Ten, to convince them of the need to behave in accordance with internationally accepted standards in this regard.
