HC Deb 25 July 1984 vol 64 c681W
Mr. Michael Forsyth

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much was provided by the Highlands and Islands Development Board to subsidise helicopter operations between Glasgow and Fort William; and whether he has any information as to the cost per passenger carried.

Mr. John MacKay

It is not possible to identify separately the amount of assistance provided by the Highlands and Islands Development Board to helicopter operations between Glasgow and Fort William. Between 1979–80 and 1983–84 the board provided assistance totalling £244,000 to helicopter services between Glasgow, Rothesay, Lochgilphead, Oban and Fort William.

The cost of the assistance per passenger carried on all these services during that period was £35.
