Bennettasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied with the quality and reliability of all the computer chips supplied for existing and under production ground-launched cruise missiles and Tornado aircraft by the National Semiconductor Corporation of the United States of America, IBM of the United States of America and the United Kingdom, Texas Instruments, and Raytheon and Fairchild of the United States of America; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. PattieI am satisfied with the quality and reliability of the computer chips supplied for the Tornado. Particular details of the manufacture of US weapons systems are not a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence, but the overall flight testing of the GLCM has been satisfactory.
