§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for Employment what recent representations he has received against the proposed dispersal of Her Majesty's Nuclear Installations Inspectorate from London to Bootle; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. GummerMy right hon. Friend has not received any such representations during the past 12 months.
§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the proposed dispersal of Her Majesty's Nuclear Installations Inspectorate from London to Bootle; what will be the initial, recurring and additional costs to public funds; and how many more inspectors will be required as a result of the dispersal.
§ Mr. GummerThe three London-based branches of the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate will be dispersed to Bootle. They will be joined there by the remaining branch of the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate at present located in central Liverpool.
It is not possible to separate the cost for the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate from those for the other parts of the Health and Safety Executive which are being dispersed to Merseyside over the period 1983 to 1985. There are no proposals to recruit extra inspectors because of dispersal. However, the Health and Safety Executive intends to continue its vigorous recruitment campaign for additional nuclear installations inspectors.
