HC Deb 23 July 1984 vol 64 c524W
Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will explain the reasons for the £200,000 grant-in-aid allocated in the Estimates in 1984–85 for the National Building Agency; and whether he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

The further grant-in-aid of £200,000 in main Estimates for 1984–85 is a provision for honouring remaining commitments entered into by the Secretary of State in support of the agency when he invited the agency to close in 1981. The main payment expected this year will be to help finance arrangements existing at the time of liquidation for the transfer of pensionable service of employees of the National Building Agency.
