HC Deb 23 July 1984 vol 64 c408W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the cause of the delay in proceeding with the construction of the new energy saving hospital at St. Mary's, Newport, Isle of Wight; what is now the proposed timetable for receipt of tenders and commencement of work on the main phase.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The delay has been caused by the need for the Wessex RHA to reconcile the estimated cost of the project with the budget established with our Department. Tenders for the main contract are expected to be received by January 1985 and work will commence as soon as practicable thereafter.
