§ The Attorney-GeneralSo far as the Law Officers' Department is concerned, I refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Lewisham, West on 9 July. As I then explained, my Department is too small and specialised for the application of management techniques of the kind referred to in the present Question. But I repeat my assurance that I and the staff of my Department are constantly alert for methods of improving the speed, efficiency and economy of the ways in which the Department carries out its functions.
So far as the Lord Chancellor's Department is concerned, the forthcoming White Paper on financial management in Government Departments, due out shortly, will give information about the implementation of the financial management initiative in the Department.
