HC Deb 23 July 1984 vol 64 c467W
Mr. Madden

asked the Lord Privy Seal, pursuant to his replies on 28 June, Official Report, columns 495–6, what information he has about why the London Electricity Board reduced the amount of electricity supplied to the Palace; if the supply has been restored; if he will give the date when the electricity supply was first reduced and the date when the supply was restored fully; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Biffen

The London Electricity Board was unable to maintain the normal supply from Monday 25 June 1984 because of a transformer failure. This resulted in a loss of supply to the Palace of Westminster and other consumers. The full supply was restored on Friday 29 June 1984.
