§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether it is the policy of Her Majesty's Government to support the estalishment of a Common Market national anthem; and if consideration has been given to when such an anthem might be sung.
§ Mr. LuceThe proposal to which my hon. Friend refers is a French idea for a Community anthem. It will be considered, together with others which member states have put forward, by one of the committees established by the Fontainebleau European Council. If it were agreed that an anthem should be established, it would not replace the national anthem.
