HC Deb 23 July 1984 vol 64 c532W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will introduce a complaints procedure to deal with complaints about his Department's police.

Mr. Lee

In common with other police forces in England and Wales the Ministry of Defence police are subject to the complaints procedure which was established by the Police Act 1976.

Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what procedures exist for his Department's police to hold inquiries in cases of alleged misconduct and complaints by members of the public about the police.

Mr. Lee

The Police Act 1976 requires that a complaint made by a member of the public against a police officer should be investigated by a senior officer and that a report of the enquiry should be referred to the Police Complaints Board for consideration.
