HC Deb 23 July 1984 vol 64 c516W
Mr. Bellingham

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he proposes to publish the report of the Committee on the Artificial Insemination of Cattle.

Mr. Jopling

I am pleased to welcome publication today of the report of the committee on the artificial insemination of cattle, "Assessment of the genetic quality of cattle for use in artificial insemination in Great Britain", and to express my gratitude and that of my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland and for Wales for the masterly way in which members of the committee under the chairmanship of Sir Richard Trehane dealt with such a complex and technical subject. I should also like to thank all those who contributed to the committee's work. I have arranged for copies of the report to be placed in the Libraries of Parliament.

After carefully considering the committee's conclusions and recommendations, my right hon. Friends and I will be consulting representative organisations in the industry, as the committee recommended, as to how the main issues might be followed up.
