HC Deb 23 July 1984 vol 64 c487W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what review he is making of the protection afforded to holders of scheduled air tickets when an airline fails financially; if he will consider introducing legislation on this matter; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

As I announced on 12 April, the Government have invited Sir Peter Lane to review the arrangements for protecting the clients of air travel organisers. We also asked him to consider the question of protection afforded to holders of scheduled air tickets. I now hope to publish his report shortly and will respond fully to his recommendations in due course.
