HC Deb 20 July 1984 vol 64 c381W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action he has taken, or will be taking, to identify supplementary benefit claimants in Manchester who were wrongly refused furniture grants between 23 November 1981 and 26 April 1984; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Boyson

As I indicated in my reply to the hon. Member for Liverpool, West Derby (Mr. Wareing) on 7 June, at column274, any applications for review which are received will be dealt with according to the relevant legislation and the case law established by decisions of the social security commissioners. It would not be possible without disproportionate expense for the Department to identify other cases which might be affected, because separate records have not been kept of refusals of single payments.
