§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Prime Minister if she will take steps in the European Economic Community to seek 304W to ensure that all the food currently stored in intervention food stores is distributed to pensioners, the unemployed and those in receipt of supplementary benefit.
§ The Prime MinisterIn general the Government favour the disposal of intervention stocks in the most cost-effective manner. Only certain commodities are stored in a form suitable for direct human consumption. Of those that are so stored, sales at preferential rates to selected social categories can on occasion, and with other measures, have a part to play in disposing of stocks.
