§ Mr. Michael Forsythasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give details of the subsidies provided from the public purse to CALMAC for each of the ferry services it operates in the Highlands and Islands along with numbers of passengers carried.
§ Mr. AncramMy right hon. Friend has announced revenue support for Caledonian MacBrayne Ltd of £7.2 million for this financial year. The subsidy is provided to support a network of ferry services within the Highlands 323W and Islands approved by my right hon. Friend and is negotiated annually on that basis. The numbers of passengers carried on each service during 1983 were as follows:
