asked the Prime Minister why the Secretary of State for Scotland is able to give information as to unemployment for Scotland by post code section whereas the Secretary of State for Employment is not able to provide such information for England and Wales.

Some information on unemployment by post code sectors is readily available for Great Britain showing totals by sex for claimants with valid post codes dealt with by computer. However, data disaggregated by age are not available except at disproportionate cost.
