HC Deb 17 July 1984 vol 64 c152W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many representations he has now received regarding the prescribing of contraceptives and family planning advice to young girls under the age of 16 years by doctors, without the knowledge, before or after, of their parents; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

In the last 13 months we have received some 400 letters expressing anxiety about doctors giving family planning advice and prescribing contraceptives to girls under 16 without parental consent.
