HC Deb 17 July 1984 vol 64 c99W
Mr. Neil Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many directorships of limited companies are occupied by nominees of Her Majesty's Government as a result of support given to such companies under the Industry Act and similar legislation; and how many individuals hold such positions.

Mr. Norman Lamont

[pursuant to the reply, 16 July 1984, c. 25]: Selective financial assistance under the Industrial Development Act 1982 and the Science and Technology Act 1965 rarely requires the safeguard of nominee directorships on behalf of Her Majesty's Government. Only one nominee director currently holds such an appointment.
