§ Mr. Chris PattenBecause of the integrated arrangements for the provision of health and personal social services in Northern Ireland it is not possible to separate expenditure on the National Health Service from that on the rest of the health and personal social services programme. The proportion of total public expenditure in Northern Ireland devoted to the respective programmes in the financial years 1979–80 to 1983–84 was as follows:
