asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he will give, for each full year since 31 March 1981, the area of Forestry Commission land sold off in Wales, the percentage of the total remaining this represented, the total cash raised as a result and the price paid for each hectare of land so bought represented as an average for each year involved;

(2) what is the area of Forestry Commission land sold off in each year since 1981; what percentage of the total remaining this represented in each year; what was the total cash raised as a result in each year; and what the price paid for each hectare of land so bought represented as an average for each year involved.

The following areas of land have been sold by the Forestry Commission in Wales and in Great Britain since 1 April 1981:

The sales covered not only plantations, land awaiting planting, unplantable land and agricultural land, but also included residential and other properties. The proportion of sales in each of these categories has varied from year to year.
