HC Deb 09 July 1984 vol 63 c385W
Mr. J. Enoch Powell

asked the Secretary of State for Wales why doctors based and trained in Northern Ireland do not receive, on taking up posts as trainees in rural practices in Wales, the expenses payable in the same circumstances to doctors from all other parts of the United Kingdom.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Removal expenses for trainee doctors are payable in accordance with the provisions of the General Whitley Council removal expenses agreement. The Whitley agreements apply only within Great Britain, and therefore removal expenses are payable only in so far as they are incurred within the mainland.
