§ Mr. MellorThe information available to me on the number of proceedings for offences against the Sunday trading laws is published annually in "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales"—offence classification 179 of table S1.1(A) of supplementary tables Vol. 1 of the latest issue for 1982. Because such prosecutions are brought by local authorities, as distinct from the police, the published figures may be incomplete.
