§ Mr. Eadieasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement on combined heat and power scheme proposals as they now affect Edinburgh district council, in the light of the withdrawal of Glasgow district council fom the only proposals offered, namely, those put forward by Utilicann Limited.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithWe are currently awaiting responses to my right hon. Friend's announcement of 5 April from consortia wishing to seek financial assistance for the preparation of a prospectus for a combined heat and power scheme in up to three of the nine towns considered in the Atkins report. The energy efficiency office is expecting proposals by 31 July but none have been received as yet. Decisions will be taken in the light of the proposals received.
