HC Deb 09 July 1984 vol 63 c354W
48. Mr. Hal Miller

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he can give figures for each of the last four calendar years of trucks, buses and Land Rovers either supplied directly under the aid programme or bought with funds made available under that programme.

Mr. Raison

The numbers supplied under the aid programme in 1983 through the Crown Agents—who buy most of these types of vehicle for the aid programme — were about 50 trucks and large vans, 220 Land Rovers and one bus. I do not have available figures for vehicles bought by contractors for large projects, or indirectly by other agencies. Figures for earlier years are as follows:

1980 1981 1982
Land Rovers 190 160 160
Trucks and large vans *500 160 110
Buses 3

Note:

No figures are available for vehicles purchased with aid funds through channels other than the Crown Agents. All figures in the table are approximate.

* Includes one large order for Bangladesh.
