§ Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will ensure that no supplies of Spanish slate are brought into the United Kingdom for use in Her Majesty's dockyards.
§ Mr. LeeNo. The greater part of construction work in the dockyards is carried out by private firms contracted to the Propery Services Agency. The contractors are responsible for providing the necessary materials. However, the PS A tries to ensure that British materials are used as far as possible bearing in mind other obligations such as the Government's policy of obtaining best value for money.
