§ Mr. Alex Carlileasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many miners who have appeared before magistrates' courts in Nottinghamshire during the current dispute have been granted unconditional bail at their first court hearing; and how many have been granted conditional bail.
§ Mr. MellorI understand from the chief constable of Nottinghamshire that from 13 March up to and including 3 July, of those persons charged with offences committed in the course of activity connected with the current dispute between the National Union of Mineworkers and the National Coal Board, 39 were granted unconditional bail and 1,278 were granted conditional bail.
