HC Deb 04 July 1984 vol 63 c200W
Mr. John David Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what evidence he has that the courts of the Republic of Ireland are continuing to use the pretext that a political offence has been committed to refuse to extradite those wanted for criminal offences where these involve acts committed against the security forces in the United Kingdom; and what action he proposes to take in this matter.

Mr. Prior

I am not aware of any recent case involving acts against the security forces where a court in the Republic of Ireland has refused to order the return of a fugitive to Northern Ireland on the ground that the warrant related to a political offence.
