HC Deb 04 July 1984 vol 63 c155W
Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the number of deaths which have occurred in Great Britain from 1 January 1969 to the latest available date in each year, connected with the present civil unrest in Northern Ireland; and how many of those deaths were caused by action taken by the police, and each of the known terrorist or paramilitary groups.

Mr. Hurd

The available information for England and Wales is shown in the following table. The table covers offences of homicide which have been attributed on the evidence available to acts of terrorism connected with Northern Ireland but the coverage may not be complete. For Scotland, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to a question from the right hon. Member for Barnsley, Central (Mr. Mason) on 2 February 1984, at columns 301–2.
