§ Mr. Norman Atkinsonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he is satisfied with the quality and safety of imported electric light bulbs; and if he will reconsider the minimum standard specifications required in the United Kingdom in terms of both manufacture and materials used.
§ Mr. FletcherI am satisfied that the quality and safety of electric lamps is in general satisfactory, although my Department has on a number of occasions been called to investigate complaints, not all of which related to imported lamps. Standards are a matter for the British Standards Institution, but at present I have no evidence of a need to revise the British standard for lamps.
