HC Deb 04 July 1984 vol 63 c178W
29. Mr. Willie W. Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what estimate he has made of the cost to the nationalised industries for which he is responsible of the continuing dispute in the coal mining industry.

Mr. Norman Lamont

Of the nationalised industries for which my Department is responsible, the dispute has had a significant effect only upon the British Steel Corporation. At its current level of production, it is estimated that the dispute is costing BSC about £5 million a week.
